Dean Jackson's Aeropod

AeroPod News

This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site and publish articles written on the AeroPod. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.

AeroPod on Sharp List

The December issue of Sharp magazine featured "The Sharp List" of 71 gifts for men, in which the AeroPod was given number 2 spot, number one being given to a fur blanket wrapping a very attractive woman. Other thoughtful gifts include a $290,000 Ferrari Spider and a $20,000 bottle of Scotch.

Success at Toronto Art Expo!

Another successful showing of the AeroPods, this time at the four-day long Toronto Art Expo held at the Convention Center on Front Street. Ended up selling two of the six Pods on display to an art-loving crowd who had, in their own words, never seen anything quite like them before. Having the Pods all together in one place was a definite advantage, as the concept of a series of similar but unique sculptures was immediately apparent. This is difficult to convey if only one is on display, as has been the case in the past.

AeroPods at Toronto Art Expo!

Six AeroPods will be on display at the Toronto Art Expo from April 14 to 17 at the Toronto Convention Center. This is an indoor show full of galleries and independent artists that is a must-see for anyone even remotely interested in art. All the details including a slide show and video can be found at www.torontoartexpo.com. This is a great opportunity to see all the different AeroPod models side by side, and I am told there will be some spectacular classic cars on display as well.

Hope to see you there!

Interior Design Show a Success!

Response to the AeroPod at the show was overwhelmingly favourable. With the door closed, people would walk by and take a double look, wondering what exacly it was. Then I would simply open the door and watch the jaws drop, followed by the "woaaaaaa's" and looks of complete surprise. Lots of comments like "the ultimate man-cave accessory" and "for the guy who has everthing", until I showed them pictures of the MoonDuster jewely cabinet and pointed out that there are plenty of women out there who like the curves of classic cars as well.

EXHIBITING AT THE TORONTO INTERIOR DESIGN SHOW!

I am pleased to announce that an AeroPod will be on display at the Interior Design Show from January 27 to 30, 2011. The show will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. For show details please go to www.interiordesignshow.com. On display will be SolarFlare10, which can also be seen on this website in the "Models" section.

Hope you can make it!

New Review in Robb Report Collection

I am honoured to have received a review in the December 09 issue of "Collection" by Robb Report magazine. It's the first entry in "20 Unique Gift Ideas" starting on page 12. I have often read the Robb Report and admired all the beautiful cars, houses and aircraft featured in it, so it was a wonderful surprise to see my MoonDuster 08 featured so prominently in its pages. Thank you to all the editors responsible for its inclusion.

Eleventh Pod a Working waterfall!

And now for something completely different. For my latest AeroPod I wanted to add the dimension of sound to the experience. What could be better than the soothing, meditative sounds of falling water?

The road to making that thought a reality has brought many new challenges to the table, but has resulted in a Pod that is quite distinct from the previous ten. The "JetStream" is an actual working waterfall inside a deep, metalic Spanish gold body. Though it's not quite finished yet, I'm comfident that it will be one of my best efforts yet. I'll publish pictures of it on the "Collection" page when it's done.

Thanks!

I have no doubt that many of you new visitors to this site have come to see what innovative things Raincity Studios has done with the Drupal platform. I am happy to say that, as an artist myself and creator of the AeroPod, I have nothing but praise to offer for both their design and support. They have given me exactly the look I wanted for the AeroPod, and made it easy for me to edit, blog and make additions. They have treated this website as a work of art, and for that I thank them. Great job, Raincity!

I plan to use this blog to comment on the latest developments regarding the AeroPod. Thoughts, experiences and fresh ideas for upcoming Pods, as well as recent successes and publications will all be discussed. Thank you, visitors, for reading what I have to say and for your interest in my sculpture.
